History

The Kita-Osaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry has jurisdiction over Hirakata City, Neyagawa City, and Katano City. It is located in the northeast part of Osaka, in the left bank in Yodo River, and in the middle of Osaka City and Kyoto City. By the volunteers of local commerce and industry, April 17, 1948, the Hirakata Chamber of Commerce & Industry were founded during the period of postwar economic growth and recovery. One city and three towns, that is , Hirakata City, Neyagawa Town, Katano Town and Tsuda Town at the time were made into the jurisdiction with 423 members.

 After Neyagawa Town was given city status,
The Neyagawa Chamber of Commerce & Industry was founded , that spun off from the Hirakata Chamber of Commerce & Industry on June 16, 1951.

 Then, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Law was revised in order to strengthen the regional economic organization. It merged as a Hirakata Neyagawa Chamber of Commerce & Industry on July 25, 1956, and started as a special corporation.

 In an industrial side, it changed to the commerce-and-industry city from the garden city. Promotion of increasing industrial park was planned in the '50s, a factory attraction project was actively developed , it developed into a inland industrial area, and the amount of product shipment had also begun to increase every year.

With industrial parks attraction, population was increasing ,and with the times, the major supermarkets and the department stores moved into around the main stations in Keihan line and Katamachi Line (now it is called Gakken city line), and the consumption sales index also increased by a large amount.

Thus, when having begun to shift to urban-type employment structure, the chamber-of-commerce new hall was completed on October 25, 1970 that it should correspond to member needs, and the first chamber-of-commerce direct management electronic data processing center in the whole country was established on February 1, 1971.

After Katano Town was given city status on November 3, 1971,The name of this chamber of commerce was changed into Kita-Osaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry from Hirakata and the Neyagawa Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Urban development was progressed in the high economic growth period , and the jurisdiction has also changed a bedroom town. On the other hand, by mixture of a residence and a factory, advance of small development, etc., Local pollution appeared in various forms. As a clue to solution, pollution problem study group was established early and consultation business was performed, and The information exchange system of industrial waste was also established.

Thus, the jurisdiction has grown as the greatest Multi Function Polis in Keihan area, which is occupied by medium and small companies.

Fortunately, there are various research institutions of private enterprises, universities , and the accumulation of the research institute of the Kansai Science City. And they held the industry-university exchange programs and the extension classes , etc.

In the commercial side, in order to promote the consistent development of local commerce and the town development with improvement of commercial accumulation, the commercial town development committee was established.

Kita-Osaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry is engaged in developing the infrastructure of road traffic supporting distribution systems for industrial economy activities, supporting for small and medium-size enterprises, improving of environmental infrastructures in the cities and establishing economic and social structure appropriate to the 21st century utilizing industry IT systems for adapting to the community information age.
